Royer R121

The new standard against which all ribbon mics are measured. The ribbon element is offset inside the magnet structure allowing the element to flex some more, providing high SPL capability and a different texture on the back side of the mic. The SPL capability is good, but it still can’t stand highly distorted guitars when the guitarist plays palm mutes. That would be a job for the Crowley and Tripp mics, which we have none of yet. Godamnit. As with all ribbons, they excel on harsh sources and take EQ very well.
