API 3124+

4x API classic preamps in 1u of space. Fast as hell, punchy as hell. Very articulate midrange. Now, the trick with these preamps is not to use their pad switch. It is situated before the input transformer, therefore the sound changes when you press it due to less saturation. But it is a very hot preamp, so you need to pad it at the output. Shure inline pads work great, A Designs ATTYs work great, a console with high headroom works great. The meter turns red at +18dBu but the preamp has headroom up to +31dBu. Do not fear. Light it up!
